Does your dog bite?
Here's a cute little song for you today. It's called "Hey Sandy" and it was the opener to Connecticut based band Polaris' album "Music from The Adventures of Pete & Pete". This album was actually a soundtrack for a Nickolodeon show, wow!
Hey Sandy was the theme song to Pete & Pete. After an unusual "space age-y" intro, the track bursts into a short and snappy power pop tune. Listening to it, you might have difficulty understanding the lyrics. This is because the were purposefully designed to be up for interpretation. I never watched Pete & Pete growing up, but this song reminds me of childhood. Don't let the children's show connection turn you off though, this track and the others on the album is indie pop in its purest form. A friend from the Indiepop on RYM Discord Server even said the show was their indocrination into the genre!!
The full album is very good, but it was Polaris' only full length release. But don't worry, because it was only the side project of the band Miracle Legion. Check out the "Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete" album on Bandcamp or streaming platforms!
